Red Flag ENT Referrals

Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSNHL)
SSNHL is an otological emergency. Any patient presenting with sudden unilateral hearing loss (often with tinnitus, fullness, or vertigo) should receive urgent audiometry and ENT referral. Early treatment within the first 72 hours offers the best chance of recovery.
We assist in the identification and escalation of urgent ear health conditions. Patients presenting with:
Mastoiditis or severe ear infections
Pulsatile tinnitus
Persistent unilateral symptoms
Severe or recurrent vertigo
…will be urgently assessed, treated and referred to ENT when required for timely intervention.
